Our client, a major oil and gas company is looking for a Marine Operation Superintendent, to work in their Rio de Janeiro office.
Job Role And Dimensions
Marine support of Company offshore sites: exploration, development and production activities (operations with drilling rigs, construction vessels, IMR, PSVs, AHTS, terminal tugs and crew boats if any);
  • Provide marine expertise to support Company marine operations as required by directives EP19, DGEP General Policy for Marine operations, rule CR EP LSO 200.
  • Position requires :
  • To provide principal expertise in the field of marine operations as required by Company rules.
  • To provide Coaching to Marine contractors upon needs and demonstrate Ability to manage the interface with major Marine Contractors, from different cultures.
  • Wide Experience (Senior) of offshore operation as Chief Engineer and/or Captain on AHTS, PSV, IMR or Drilling Rigs
  • Supervision of marine personnel onshore and offshore.
  • Good technical knowledge of marine engineering equipment and practices in order to Schedule, plan, prepare, manage and supervise offshore marine operations
ACTIVITIES
  • The Marine Superintendent provides expertise in the specialist field of marine engineering and operations to support Company marine activity as required by directives EP19, DGEP General Policy for Marine Operations, CR LSO 200 and Marine Operations Standards.
  • Technical assistance:
  • In charge of CFT process, technical and operational follow-up of vessels under contract with Company Logistic division.
  • Liaises with logistics operations superintendent for defining Offshore Supply Vessels unloading/loading planning.
  • Monitors operations of all Company vessels in relation with Company Logistic division contracts.
  • When required, provide Marine expertise and assistance to other Company entities (Drilling, Projects and Production) concerning marine related activities.
  • Contribute to the technical evaluation and selection of all offshore marine vessels and rigs for compliance with the company requirements and the established Company marine standards.
  • Ensures the preparation/supervision of rig moves and other marine related operations.
  • Assists and supports during emergencies involving fire-fighting, anti-pollution, search and rescue operations.
  • Monitors the major work carried out at dry-dock and ship repair yards for company contracted vessels if applicable and potentially for Brazilian non operated assets when applicable.
  • Ensures the vessels, machinery, cranes and auxiliary marine equipment are running and comply with company procedures.
  • Ensures that the Preventive Planned Maintenance Programs are met for all marine units involved in company marine operations.
  • Follows-up and monitors the maintenance programs carried out by contracted marine vessels and ensure corrective action plans are met in compliance with Company standards and contractual obligations.
  • Assists in the preparation for special assignment of vessel (s) when moving to sites, as and when required.
  • Performs the duty of marine advisor onboard or special assigned vessels during critical project operations within the fields.
  • Ensure all operations under job holder's supervision are conducted safely and within agreed SLA's.
Method
  • Contribute to ensure the correct implementation and application of the COMPANY Marine procedures (guidelines on approach to Offshore installations, etc.), CMS and COMPANY HSE rules by Contractors
  • Assist with the development and propose revision of marine procedures in compliance with the Company CMS
  • Monitor and propose corrective actions to Marine related anomaly reports and vessels action trackers o Continually monitor the offshore support vessels activities with referent Captains of the contractors.
  • Assist Contractor Marine operations, procedure analysis and follow up of their application on site
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office based in Rio with regular offshore and national onshore site visits when required.
  • Team work within a lean structure.
Required Profile (experience And Job Requirement)

  • Class 1 Master's certificate (STCW95) for seagoing vessel
  • 10 years experience as Chief Officer and Captain on Offshore Vessels (AHTS, PSV, IMR) with Full DPO Certificate
  • Hold valid OVID inspector accreditation
  • Experience in organisation, planning of personnel transport & logistics
  • Proven record of achievement within marine operations
  • Languages: Fluent in spoken and written English and Portuguese.
